Taking advantage of the many educational opportunities that are available is a great way for glass crafters to learn new techniques and find ways to enhance their glass art.
The Techniques and Secrets of Beautiful Glass Painting—Shading
Design by David Williams and Stephen Byrne
A 4"-diameter painted glass panel with tips for successful tracing. Step-by step instructions are given for applying paint to glass, shading, and highlighting a six-point star design. These techniques are unique in that the project requires only one firing.
Western Spirit
Design by Leslie Gibbs
A 12" x 13" free-form stained glass shirt panel. The snaps for the shirt are created by cutting and fusing snaps from a contrasting color of glass. Other details are added using decals that are fused onto the glass of the shirt sections. The collar suspends naturally over the front of the shirt. Shirt pieces are assembled using the copper foil technique.
Doughnut Delight
Design by Carol Giffin
A 2"-square fused dichroic pendant with matching earrings. Dichroic glass and frit add color and sparkle to the jewelry pieces. The earrings are created using the glass rounds that come from the hole that is cut in the pendant to allow for hanging.
Ikebana Flower Dish
Design by Petra Kaiser
A 9" x 9" free-form fused flat dish for traditional Japanese floral arrangements. The dish is fused and slumped using sculpted Kaiser Lee Board for added design interest. A floral accent piece is added to the dish using pieces of scrap glass from the project plus stringer.
Torii Gate Stepping-Stone
Design by Martha Hanson
A 16" hexagonal stepping-stone with traditional Japanese design. Tips are given for using clear acrylic waterproofing to protect the pattern pieces, which are glued onto the glass for cutting. The stone is finished using traditional grouting techniques.
Fabulous Felines
Designs by Marianne Crivellaro
A set of five 12" x 12" panels. These stained glass small panels and suncatchers feature five cats displaying their regal and aloof nature. The cats are surrounded by geometric designs, the colors of which could easily be made to match any room decor. The cats could also be colored to look just like a favorite feline. This project was constructed using the copper foil technique.
Faceted Paperweight
Design by Kent Lauer
A 3" x 2-1/2" x 2" pyramid paperweight created with glued, fused, and lapped dichroic glass. Careful measuring of the epoxy used to glue the different layers of glass adds to the success of this project. The paperweight is polished using a lap grinder and various grit sizes.
Brilliant Border Fused Plate
Design by Linda Scott
An 8"-diameter fused and slumped plate with border created using the Morton Circle Border System. Techniques for measuring the glass used in the border are given, as well as firing schedules for finishing the plate.
Small Treasure

A 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" stained glass copper foil panel. The texture, depth, and contouring of this winter pinecone scene are made possible through the careful selection of glass colors. This project was constructed using the copper foil technique.

Screen Printing Painted and Etched Designs

Suggestions for places to go to for having positives of the designs made are offered, and step-by-step instructions for setting up the printing screen, the proper use of the paints, and tips for cleaning the equipment are also given.

Tips for creating flameworked heart beads from tab beads. Once the techniques for creating tab beads is mastered, the shape can be used as a basis for many decorative beads, including a heart shape—the perfect accent piece for jewelry.
With Men in Mind—Pointing the Way

A 20" x 12" stained glass panel with outdoor hunting scene. The image includes a pointer in a beautiful outdoor setting. Careful glass selection adds texture and depth to the scene, and detailing is added through the use of copper wire and copper foil overlay. This project was constructed using the copper foil technique.
Wrapping Ribbons Mirror

An 8" x 8" Victorian geometric stained glass panel with center mirror. The colors of this design can easily be changed to complement any decor. This project was constructed using the copper foil technique.
A Pair in the Air

A 16" x 20" stained glass panel featuring a pair of mallards in flight. Careful glass selection and the choice of colors in brilliant blues, whites, and several shades of green add realism to the birds. Detailing can be added through the use of copper foil overlay or paint. This project was constructed using the copper foil technique.
Gem-Filled Sidelights

A pair of 13" x 69" fused sidelight windows that incorporate fused gems, glass chunks, and frit. Wood panels are cut from the side panels of an existing entry door and replaced with the fused panels. Firing schedules are provided for the project plus techniques for laying out the design and filling it with the gems, frit, and glass chunks.
Layering or Casting a Fused Sink

Techniques for creating 19"-diameter glass sinks by fusing and slumping in a mold or casting using a kiln dam. The various equipment required plus tips for creating each different technique are demonstrated, and firing schedules are also provided.
